Later vellum, paper lettering piece on spine. Covers slighlty soiled, scattered browning, spotting and marginal staining.

FIRST EDITION of Danti\'s translation of the influential astronomical text by Proclus, the Neo-Platonic philosopher who lived and wrote in a time that was on the threshold between the ancient world and the Middle Ages. Danti taught at the University of Pisa, and was Cosmographer to the Medici court. His treatise on the use of the astrolabe, bound here after the work of Proclus, was the first book on the subject published in Italy.
